FORGOTTEN COAST SALES UPATE – DECEMBER 2020

I hope 2021 is starting off well for you and will be a year full of happiness and success. I am looking forward to life getting back to somewhat normal over the next few months. I am also ready for our short winter to be over. It has been unusually cool this year and I have had to wear long pants and socks for several days. I don’t like that.

Sales activity was strong during the last month of the year. There were 65 properties sold by realtors on St. George Island, Apalachicola, Carrabelle and Eastpoint – 30 single family homes, 3 condo/town homes, 2 mobile homes, 26 residential home sites and 4 commercial properties. Carrabelle saw the most activity with 22 total sales – 5 single family homes, 1 town home, 1 mobile home and 15 residential home sites. St. George Island had 21 total sales – 11 single family homes, 2 condo/town homes, 7 residential home sites and 1 commercial lot. Apalachicola had 11 total sales – 6 single family homes, 2 residential home sites and 3 commercial properties. Eastpoint had 11 total sales – 8 single family homes, 1 mobile home and 2 residential home sites. Sales prices ranged from a low of $9,000 for a lot in St. James Bay to $1,650,000 for a 5 bedroom/4.5 bath gulf front home with private pool and elevator located in the Gulf Beaches.

Sales activity throughout the area was up significantly in 2020 as compared to 2019. The increase in sales volume is a combination of the low interest rates and an increase in folks moving here permanently due to the ability to continue working remotely.
