FORGOTTEN COAST SALES UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 2018

Sorry for the delay in getting the sales update for September completed.  Hurricane Michael has put us all a little behind here.  My husband and I were very fortunate as the only damage we suffered was a few downed trees none of which were near our home.  Many others were not near as lucky.  St. George Island had quite a bit of damage to the bay side homes and businesses but most of the island homes came through with minor damage.  Beach erosion was bad especially in the Plantation but beach re-nourishment is under way.  Apalachicola is back and even put on the annual Seafood Festival.  The devastation to Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, Panama City, Marianna and pretty much all of the small towns near the Florida border was awful.  However, the spirit and love of this area is much stronger than Michael and we will be back.  The Forgotten Coast may be battered and bruised but it is not broken.

Sales activity for the month of September was down a little as is typical for this time of year.  There were 36 total sales – 14 single family homes, 3 condos/town homes, 1 mobile home and 6 residential home sites.  St. George Island saw the most activity with 18 total sales – 10 single family homes, 1 condo and 7 residential home sites.  Apalachicola had 3 total sales – 1 single family home and 2 residential home sites.  Carrabelle had 10 total sales – 1 single family home, 2 condos/town homes, 1 mobile home and 6 residential home sites.  Eastpoint had 5 total sales – 2 single family homes and 3 residential home sites.  Sales prices ranged from a low of $8,100 for a 1 acre home site in Apalachicola to $1,715,000 for a 6 bedroom/4 bath Plantation gulf front home with private pool and elevator.
